Single-phase induction motors.
Single-phase induction motors are mainly used to drive small devices with a power of up to 2 kW (vacuum cleaners, mixery, grinders etc.). The power of single-phase motors is approx 50% smaller than three-phase motors of the same size. The principle of their work is the same as that of three-phase motors.

Connection diagram for a single-phase motor: a) motor with a resistive starting phase switched off by a centrifugal switch, b) motor with starting capacitor and centrifugal coupler. U1, U2 - main winding, R1, R2 - starting winding, WO - centrifugal switch, C — capacitor.
