Machine and drive concepts.
Machines are classified into: working machines and engines. A work machine is a device used to perform a specific job, np.: cake mixer, meat grinding machine etc.. A characteristic feature of machines is their inability to perform work independently. Every working machine must be driven, that is, you need to bring energy to it from the outside. That's what engines are for.
The drive consists of an engine and gears that act as an intermediary in the transmission of motion (power) from the engine to the working machine.

The figure shows a typical electric drive, usually used in catering machines.
